Here's the last pic of our 2018 Michigan vacation. About 13 years ago we spent a vacation in Michigan with Mom and Dad in this cabin. We have a lot of good memories of that vacation. It was nice to just drive through and take a look at it again. Hasn't changed much, which is great to see. We need to head back there and stay again someday.
Jim (Mess) is the great guy who owns the cabin we stayed in all week. He took us for a nice ride around the lake to show us the sites.

Jeff and Mary had asked Ben to draw the Messenger homestead. This was a little bit after he started it. It turned out great when he was finished!
Strangest home ever! This home is actually built on a very small island and Les Cheneaux Islands. It used to have a small yard surrounding it, but the past few years Lake Huron has risen, leaving only the house....I hope they have flood insurance 😉
Jim took a sauna nice pontoon ride around the lake. Some of the homes and boat houses we saw along the way were unbelievable! Lots of money up here!
We walked up to the Grand Hotel and also took a look at the golf course across the road (not pictured). Very neat!
On our way back to Hessel from Drummond Island we stopped to take a few pictures. Here's one of Elli. I told her no sense in getting senior pictures now 😁
We took the car across on the ferry today and visit Drummond Island, which is about 40 minutes from Hessel. Not much on the island, but still and interesting Adventure.

There are a few places to stay on Drummond Island, but this was the main Resort.
Ben, Jeff and I walked up to the fort to take a tour. We had not done that before, so we wanted to make sure to do it this time. Interesting tour to learn about the history of it all.
We visited Mackinac Island today, along with the Ritz's. We did a lot of walking and taking in the sights.
Here's a view of Jim Messenger's house from the dock. It's the brown A-frame style house. We stayed in the cabins behind his house. Beautiful place!
Saw this cool old Studebaker truck parked in one of the garages near where we're staying and Hessel. Thought Dad might enjoy this pic... Original.

We didn't spend much time here, but took some time to drive up to Whitefish Pointe and take a look around. It's been several years since we were last here, as well.
